Batteries wear out over time and with use.  Li-Poly cells are the latest and lightest technology for cell phone batteries.  Li-Poly batteries are not subject to the memory effect and do not have to be conditioned.  Li-poly cells last roughly 500 charge cycles before wearing out.  As the battery wears out talk and standby times diminish.  A new LG battery can provide longer talk and standby times than an older battery.  A spare battery can be useful in cases where you need your phone but do not have a way of charging the battery easily.  A new or extra li-poly batteries are great LG Trax accessories or LG CU575 accessories.
